ABOUT

Stepmake founder, Philip Leal, began his first steps into the trade in the early 80's.
Raised in Toronto, acquired experience throughout his teenage years working at one of the largest building supply chains in the city. Still as a teen, began doing small renovation projects on the side. Increasing customer requests during the construction boom of the mid 80's in North America, catapulted him to full time self employment at a very early age.
As work became steady, the thirst for knowledge meant going to night college. Apart from a basic accounting course, the search was mainly focused on civil engineering. 
The passion for math, physics, geometry, trigonometry, site surveying as well as 2D computer drawing, began in the late 80's.
The opportunity came around when he was subcontracted to lead a team of qualified professionals to build a shopping mall in Ajax, Ontario, Canada.
His intent to apply mathematical calculations on everything he did and always double check building plans, urged him to defy his superiors and boldly come up with a multiple interchangeable module system for concrete forming, thus creating a revolutionary method that no longer required the constant dismantling and rebuilding of the forms for each specific beam or column. This lead to enormous savings in both material and labor.
